South Kaibab Trail
Grand Canyon, AZ

March 18, 1999

Our first day in the Canyon, we hiked 6 1/2 miles to Skeleton Point and back. From there we could see the Colorado River and the Phantom Ranch still several miles below us.

The trail seemed to go on forever. It was so beautiful.
Often we just stopped to look around.
Taking muffins for lunch on the trail sounded like a really great idea. We found that they not only taste good when they're flat, but provide a great deal of humor when first pulled out of the backpack.
We found some interesting and tall plant life.
